SHERPA/RoMEO is a database of publishers’ policies and listing service run by SHERPA Services (based at the University of Nottingham, UK) that aims to show the copyright guidelines and open access self-archiving policies of scientific journals.
As an online resource, SHERPA/RoMEO aggregates and analyses publisher open access policies from around the world, and offers descriptions of self-archiving permissions and conditions of rights given to authors on a journal-by-journal basis.
According to the 2016 Knowledge Exchange report Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and SHERPA are considered as the two most important services available in the open access community.
